About Blue Candlelight Music Series

Blue Candlelight Music Series was founded in 2002 as the brainchild of Daredjan “Baya” Kakouberi and Lisa Blue. Their vision was to enrich the cultural fabric of Dallas by presenting performances by world class musicians in the intimate surroundings of an elegant private home. In that way an audience could experience classical music and close contact with musicians recreating the atmosphere in which chamber music masterpieces were originally performed.

Blue Candlelight Music Series believes that the future of classical music is in the hands of our youth, and we are proud to announce an exciting and unique opportunity for young pianists. Our first annual Piano Competition for musicians ages 8 through 18 is now open and accepting applications through July 15.

As a highly respected and integral part of the Dallas chamber music scene, Blue Candlelight has a history of providing opportunities to outstanding young musicians through our Young Starlight performance program. It is this program that inspired us to design our competition to:
- include and award prizes in three separate age categories to allow us to reach as many young pianists as possible;
- offer Young Starlight performance opportunities to our laureates, presenting them on the same stage as the world-class musicians in our regular season concerts;
- provide cash prizes that both reward achievement and support students' continued musical studies; and
- allow serious young pianists to be seen and evaluated by a jury of internationally recognized piano and music-industry figures.

The application process is easy and the competition is entirely online - no travel, no live appearance required, just the upload of 2 pre-recorded performance videos. Full instructions, repertoire requirements by age, and help with video submission can be found at bluecandlelight.org or scan the QR code on the attached flyer.

Please encourage your students to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. We look forward to seeing their videos and all that they have accomplished and welcoming newly discovered talent to our Blue Candlelight Music Series stage next season!

(She is also, by the way, a laureate of the Paderewski International Piano Competition.) So, get your tickets to our May 2 concert so you can hear and meet the 2025 IBLA winners. Because we are sure you will see them again! Tickets and info at bluecandlelight.org.

You can hear Ani alongside Baya Kakouberi, Gary and Eugene Levinson, and violist Michael Klotz at our concert this Sunday, April 12. Tickets and info at bluecandlelight.org.
