We are very excited about this season, on the heels of our very successful tenth anniversary campaign! This season, in addition to the Baron House, we are proud to offer our patrons additional, spectacular salons to host our concerts. The new home of Richard and Enika Schulze has flowing open spaces to soothe the eye and ear, a perfect venue for our concerts. We thank them deeply for hosting our concerts and look forward to welcoming them to the Blue Candlelight family.
This season we commemorate the anniversary of Claude Debussy, the master Impressionist. All year we will bring artists who explore the relationship between his music and the artistic developments that revolutionized the world of painting in his time, particularly the French Impressionist movement. Our first concert addresses this goal in the most natural manner - a piano recital. Hugues Leclere, a world renowned Debussy expert, comes to Dallas all the way from his home in Paris, France. He will devote an entire evening to a journey through Debussy's remarkable music palate, from his fascination with Asian themes to musical paintings of nature. A Blue Candlelight first, this is indeed a Dallas first - not to be missed under any circumstances.
Other highlights include the recital with Grammy nominated violinist/conductor Andrés Càrdenes. His 2011 recital was such a success that we were overwhelmed with requests to bring him back, mostly from patrons who were not able to purchase tickets due to seating constraints. We are lucky that he included Blue Candlelight in his international touring schedule in consecutive seasons and we encourage you to purchase tickets early to avoid being left out "in the cold".
Pineapples and Champagne is a vocal recital by Viotti competition winner Mikhail Svetlov. Offering a wonderful mix of best-loved opera favorites coupled with unusual arias of many styles, this is a unique blend of classicism and wit. He will be joined by Artistic Director Baya Kakouberi and friends.
Internationally acclaimed soloists, Claudio Bohorquese, cello and Katia Skanavi, piano, will be with us in a March 2013 recital. As a duo, they have toured around the world and Blue Candlelight is one of their few United States concerts.
As always we will sprinkle in our very own Baya Kakouberi and Gary Levinson, whose recent New York recital received a glowing review, "delicacy, ardor...music, in a pure sense". We are most excited about entering our second decade of great music as we welcome back our supporters and welcome for the first time many music lovers new to the Blue Candlelight experience. Please join us for a season of unforgettable music as it was intended by the composers themselves.
